Through the years and through many generations, Jazz and Argentina have had a tacit bond, and intangible relationship that can be explained through the immigrant’s suffering and nostalgia, and through having to build culture and identity in a different part of the world, where we feel foreign but that we adopted as our own.
When you sit down and listen to “Santa Fe” those feelings will permeate not only your mind but also your soul because it is impossible not to feel captivated by the expressiveness of this beautiful piece of work, which narrates Agustin Uriburu’s experience and journey away from his home country, the melancholy and vent of emotions that he doesn’t express through words but through music and through his instruments: cello and guitar.
From a totally unprejudiced standpoint, he invents and reinvents ways of interacting with the strings and the sound of wood to generate textures and settings that vary in intensity and tone, that also take you to different places and situations of his life, but also of ours. That’s the power of Jazz, that’s the power of freedom, there are no words because they would simply limit us and wouldn’t let us connect with our true SELF.
All of this intimate world that Agustin shares with us, is completed with elements that also take us to that Argentinean and European root, where folklore, tango, and classical music blend with Jazz to leave us with an intermittent halo of world music but also local music which is clearer at moments, and blurrier at others. A conversation between the person he was, the one he is now, and the one he wants to be, an artist that never loses faith in this path and in what he wants from life.
He shares this process of self-discovery and improvement not only with his audience but also with the musicians that take part in this album, they identify with him and elevate the songs to let the music fly, becoming involved, reinterpreting him and adding their personal experience which touches not only the author but also us.
That’s why, the work of Gabriel Chakarji, Daniele Germani, Juan Chiavassa, and sound engineer Daniel Alba, is key in adding a special tone to an already great piece of art.

“Santa Fe” de Agustín Uriburu
El jazz y la Argentina han tenido a lo largo de los años y de muchas generaciones, un vínculo tácito, una relación intangible que se puede intentar de explicar a través del sufrimiento, la nostalgia del inmigrante y de tener que construir cultura e identidad en otra parte del mundo en un lugar en donde nos sentimos ajenos pero que adoptamos como propio.
Cuando uno se sienta a escuchar “Santa Fe” estos sentimientos se van a impregnar no solo en la cabeza sino en el alma de cada uno, porque es imposible no dejarse interpelar por la intención de la expresión de todos los sentimientos que formar parte de esta hermosa obra, que narra la experiencia de Agustín Uriburu y su vida lejos de su país natal, el desarraigo, la melancolía, y el descargo de emociones que no puede transmitir de manera verbal pero si a través de la música y sus instrumentos, el cello y la guitarra.
Desde un lugar totalmente desprejuiciado, inventa y reinventa maneras de abordar las cuerdas y el sonido de la madera para generar texturas y situaciones que cambian de intensidad y de colores, y que también te llevan a distintos lugares y situaciones de su vida pero también de las nuestras. Ese poder tiene el jazz, ese poder tiene la libertad, no existen las palabras porque simplemente nos limitan sentimentalmente y no nos permiten conectar con nuestro verdadero y genuino YO.
Todo este mundo íntimo que Agustín nos comparte, se completa de elementos que nos llevan también a esa raíz argentina y europea, en donde el folklore, el tango y la música clásica se fusionan con el jazz para dejar ese halo intermitente de globalidad pero también de localía que de a ratos es más claro y en otros más difuso. Una conversación entre la persona que fue, la que es y la que quiere ser, un artista que no pierde la fe en su camino y lo que quiere para su vida.
Y en este proceso íntimo de autoconocimiento y superación, también se permite compartir, no solo con los que están del otro lado escuchando y conectando, sino también con los músicos que participan de este descargo emocional, se identifican con él y lo elevan para dejarlo volar, acompañando pero también involucrándose, reinterpretándolo y aportando su experiencia personal en una línea sentimental que nos atraviesa a todos, no solo al autor. Por este motivo, el aporte de Gabriel Chakarji, Daniele Germani, Juan Chiavassa y Daniel Alba, es clave para darle otro color a una ya gran obra.
En la era de lo digital y lo procesado “Santa Fe” es un oasis sonoro que nos obliga a prestar atención, a sentir la música y dejarla entrar, una experiencia liberadora y sanadora, que habla de identidad, de valores, de sentimientos, de angustia y felicidad, de superación y evolución, pero sin decir ni una palabra.
